It was the only Polish night fighter squadron fighting alongside the Royal Air Force during World War II. 307 Squadron is named after the Polish city of Lwów, and nicknamed "Eagle Owls". Boulton Paul "Defiant", Bristol "Beaufighter", De Havilland "Mosquito" in chronological order were in the equipment of the 307 Squadron during World War II.
